Charity Chili Cook-Off
Businesses and residents of the Great Bend area are encouraged to get involved with the annual Charity Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, October 17th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Every year, the event raises money to benefit a local charity. The proceeds from the 2015 fundraiser will go to support the local food bank and Toys for Tots. Businesses and individuals can participate by cooking chili to be sampled by hundreds of "tasters" during the day of the fundraiser. Most cooks will set up in downtown Great Bend, but this year the cook-off will be expanding to the K-96 storefronts as well. There are three ways you can enter the cook-off: individuals, teams, or commercial entries. Even if your business isn't located in downtown, you can still cook chili and exhibit in front of a host business that is not cooking chili of their own. There is no cost to enter the contest.
All funds are raised by selling taster packets to the numerous spectators who come to sample the chili. Taster packets can be purchased from any of the stores with chili stops in front. Packets are $5 and include everything you'll need to sample all the delicious entries.
The purpose of the event is to raise money for a worthy cause, but also to encourage people to get out and "Explore Great Bend," a campaign being organized by the City of Great Bend during the holiday season.
