Guest Artist Series Two Pianos Duet Recital

Music enthusiasts and piano students are in for a treat as piano professors Dr. Christina Liu and Dr. Brett Janssen from Bethel College and Central Christian College respectively, will present a masterclass at 4 p.m. in the Chapel in the Fine Arts Building followed by a piano recital at 7 p.m. Feb. 1 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

The masterclass portion will provide an enriching opportunity for piano students and community members to learn from their expertise. The masterclass will run for approximately an hour and a half and is open to all who wish to attend.

The concert will showcase a diverse repertoire, including four-hand duets and two-piano pieces, promising an engaging and dynamic musical experience, which will include works by Piazzolla, Stravinsky, Rachmaninoff, Copland, and more.

Dr. Christina Liu
Dr. Liu, an accomplished soloist, collaborative pianist, and chamber musician, has performed extensively across the United States and internationally. She is a prize-winning artist who made her orchestral debut at the age of 17 and has been featured on Spokane Public Radio and Kansas Public Radio. Currently, she serves as Associate Professor and Music Department Chair at Bethel College, where she teaches courses in music theory, music history, piano pedagogy, and more.

Brett Janssen
Brett Janssen has dedicated over 14 years to teaching at Central Christian College and leads an independent piano studio. As president of the McPherson Area Piano Teachers League and past president of the Kansas Music Teachers Association, Janssen actively contributes to the regional music community. He holds advanced degrees in Piano Performance and Pedagogy as well as a Ph.D. in Education, Curriculum, and Instruction. Beyond music, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters.
