DESCRIPTION:The League of Women Voters (LWV) of Great Bend\, Barton County\, is organizing two candidate forums for contested local and state House races.\n\n\n\nBoth forums will be held in the evening at the Events Center in Great Bend in the Fort Zarah room.\n\n\n\nThe July 20\, 2026\, forum will feature County Commissioner candidates from Districts 1\, 4\, and 5\, as well as candidates for the 112th and 113th House of Representatives. Primary voting will take place on Tuesday\, August 4\, 2026.\n\n\n\nIndependent voters can choose to vote for the Democratic or Republican party. If they want to remain an independent voter\, they can vote only on the Amendment to elect Supreme Court Justices and abolish the current merit system.\n\n\n\nThe October 15\, 2026\, forum will focus on City Council candidates from Wards 1\, 2\, and 3. A decision has yet to be made on whether any of the winners of state primary races will be invited to attend. General Election voting will take place on Tuesday\, November 3\, 2026.
