SUMMARY:St. Rose ASC Annual Golf Classic
DESCRIPTION:The three-event celebration of Heartland Cancer Center's (HCC) 11th anniversary promises to have something for everyone\, said Dana Foss\, facilitator of the Touched by Cancer Support Group.\n\n\n\nFestivities will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday\, Oct. 4 with silent and live auctions at the Club at Stoneridge to raise money for cancer patients. Next is the 1:30 p.m. reception and 3 p.m. balloon launch Sunday\, Oct. 5 at HCC\, 204 Cleveland. Then on Monday\, Oct. 6\, St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center will sponsor its annual Golf Classic at Stoneridge\, also to benefit cancer patients.\n\n\n\nHCC is part of the St. Rose family.\n\n\n\nFoss noted that three colors of balloons are available to represent survivors\, caregivers and memorials at the launch. Those who want to indicate a certain person's name on a balloon tag may do so in advance at HCC or the day of the event.\n\n\n\n"This reception and balloon launch honor all who have been touched by cancer in some way\," Foss said. "It is a wonderful way to bring us all together to share thoughts and feelings."\n\n\n\nFoss noted she is especially excited this year because for the first time all the activities are scheduled on consecutive days.\n\n\n\n"First\," she commented\, "the auctions raise money for the Patient Care Fund\, while also raising awareness about how we as a community can support families who are struggling financially. Next\, the balloon launch brings people together to honor patients\, caregivers and those who have gone before us."\n\n\n\nThe Monday golf tournament rounds out the long weekend\; its proceeds also go to cancer patients.\n\n\n\n"This golf outing reminds us that life is good and God is good\," Foss said. "No matter what you are going through\, God wants you to be happy and love life. This one weekend can provide us with so many tools to help us cope\, along with encouragement to savor life.\n\n\n\n"Another big message to share with patients and families is that they are not alone\," Foss elaborated. "By participating in these activities you may find new friends and additional support."\n\n\n\nFoss has been a cancer survivor since 1993.\n\n\n\nSt. Rose is part of Centura Health\, which connects individuals and families across western Kansas and Colorado with more than 6\,000 physicians\, 15 hospitals\, seven senior-living communities\, physician practices and clinics\, and home-care and hospice services.\n\n\n\nDate - Oct 06\, 2014 \n\nType - Community Event \n\nCommunity - Great Bend \n\nLocation - Club at Stoneridge \n\nAddress - 24th & Frey\n\nGreat Bend\, KS \n\nContact - Mark Mingenback\, 620-786-6132
