Kids Ag Day!
Join us for the 29th Annual Kids Ag Day, organized by the Ag-Business Committee of the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce. This exciting event will take place on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Diamond K Farm, owned by the Koelsch family, located at 706 SW 20 Rd, Great Bend, KS.
We are thrilled to invite over 350 fourth-grade students from various public and private schools in Claflin, Hoisington, Ellinwood, Otis-Bison, Pawnee Rock, and Great Bend. Kids Ag Day has been a longstanding tradition, providing an immersive experience for students to learn about agriculture-related topics. For nearly three decades, we have been fostering education and awareness in the agricultural industry.
Throughout the day, the students will engage in informative talks covering a wide range of subjects, including crops, livestock, machinery, and more. They will also enjoy a delightful hayrack ride, a visit to a petting zoo, and a delicious lunch. Kids Ag Day has proven to be a resounding success, serving as a role model for other communities within Kansas and beyond, inspiring them to develop similar programs.
The primary objective of this event is to enhance students' understanding of the vital role played by the agriculture industry in our local economy. We take great pride in the overwhelmingly positive feedback we receive from teachers and students alike, as their experiences on the farm enrich their knowledge and appreciation for agriculture. Furthermore, our efforts have garnered national recognition from esteemed agricultural organizations.
