    Presbyterian Irish Stew

Presbyterian Irish Stew - March 21st Please join us for a dish of our famous Irish stew served with delicious pie from 4:30 to 7pm on Thursday evening, March 21st, at the First Presbyterian Church located at 24th and Washington in Great Bend. The Irish stew is a special value. Stew, pie, fellowship and worthwhile causes (church program / projects and our Boy Scouts), all for just $7 and preschoolers eat free. Carry-out is also more convenient than ever at the North East entry of the Church. The Irish stew is a group effort. In recent years our Boy Scout Troop and their leaders have provided a critical hand. Church women continue to do so much more than provide the pies and the mothers of our Boy Scouts have been pitching in as well. The Presbyterian men take the credit, but owe others “big time.” Over 50 years ago the Presbyterian men were gathering for fellowship at the Mayflower Cafe on Forest Street in downtown Great Bend. The cafe owner/operator, Ed Bartley, shared with them his now famous Irish stew recipe. The main secret is using high quality ingredients - choice beef and the freshest of vegetables. Mark the date, March 21st, and plan to join this community gathering for great food and fellowship.
